Eminence

Back in 1965, when Eminence founder and engineer Bob Gault was commissioning bass speakers for Ampeg at a rate of three a day entirely out of his garage, he couldn’t have imagined his fledgling audio company would go on to become one of the world’s largest loudspeaker manufacturers to date. From guitar amps to pro audio, wherever you find quality music reproduction and playback systems, there you’ll find Eminence speakers and drivers.

Founded by Bob Gault in Eminence, Kentucky

Bill Gault left a job with Magnavox (later Chicago Telephone Company) to put his stamp on the audio industry, building custom-commissioned 18" bass cabinet speakers for Ampeg’s Everett Hull out of his garage in Paducah, Kentucky. The eventual addition of Paul Lovegren and Bill Larman — coworkers from Gault’s prior Magnavox/CTS days — saw the company able to build more speakers daily, which created a need for a proper workspace and distribution center. Eminence, Kentucky, provided the ideal location, both in terms of infrastructure and supplier/customer centralization. Luck worked in Bill and the company’s favor in 1966 as a small factory (5,800 sq. ft.) opened up in the heart of downtown Eminence on West Broadway Street. From there, word of the Eminence company’s quality loudspeakers spread like wildfire across the music industry.

One of the World’s Largest Loudspeaker Manufacturers

Today, Eminence provides OEM speakers for some of the industry’s heaviest hitters — Fender, Peavey, Yamaha, Ampeg, and more — as well as a diverse range of quality aftermarket replacements for all musical applications. From the classic American and British guitar tones of the Eminence Swamp Thang and CV-75, respectively, to the weight-defying sonic heft and definition of its Neodymium Deltalite and Kappalite range of PA speakers, Eminence continues to break new ground in the audio industry with all-new designs and flawless, timeless vintage re-creations.

“Value is one of our keys to success.”

The principles and leadership Bob instilled in Eminence decades ago continue to live on through his son Rob (now company chairman) and employees. “High quality at a fair price” — that’s the reputation Eminence Speaker strives for in its products and workers. Eminence’s elite team of developers, technicians, and engineers continues to push the envelope with regard to what’s possible from a loudspeaker, and at what cost to the consumer.

A Reputation for Excellency

Wherever you find yourself needing quality speakers at a fair price — from your guitar and bass rigs to subs, PA speakers, and beyond — consider Eminence Speaker: a trusted Sweetwater brand with a proven reputation for excellency.
