In 2019, when Dr. Eugene Rousseau was approached Jody Espina, the founder and president of JodyJazz Inc., about acquiring his company, Espina was honored and humbled to continue Dr. Rousseau’s original mission. Dr. Rousseau designed and created his legendary mouthpieces so that he and his students could achieve the sound and playability he knew was possible but didn’t yet exist with commercially available mouthpieces. E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic RC Series Saxophone Mouthpieces
The E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic RC Series saxophone mouthpieces represent a new tonal direction in the E. Rousseau lineup while honoring the legacy of Dr. Eugene Rousseau. Designed by Jody Espina and manufactured entirely at the JodyJazz factory, the RC Series introduces a round-chamber design that produces a warm, dark, and centered tone with balanced resistance, excellent control, and strong projection. Inspired by the French style of classical saxophone mouthpiece concepts, the Classic RC Series offers a rich, expressive sound that blends beautifully in ensembles while maintaining the depth and flexibility needed for solo performance. While the new E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic RC Series is a round-chamber mouthpiece at its core, it is a completely original design built from the ground up and created to stand on its own. E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic R Series Saxophone Mouthpieces
The E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic R Series stays true to the original 1972 E. Rousseau mouthpiece design. When Dr. Rousseau couldn’t find any commercially available saxophone mouthpieces to recommend to his classical students, he decided to design his own. Inspired by a mouthpiece that Marcel Mule gave Dr. Rousseau in 1961, the Classic R Series instantly set the standard for concert bands, classical ensembles, and serious students. It also became a top recommendation for band directors. The new E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic R Series features improved facing curves for all alto mouthpieces and a new matte finish with engraved logo for all models. Designed to meet the needs of serious classical performers, it provides a warm, centered tone; positive response; and powerful projection with medium resistance and solid control. E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic NC Series Saxophone Mouthpieces
The E. Rousseau 3.0 Classic NC saxophone mouthpiece was developed to complement the legendary E. Rousseau R Series but quickly became the most popular model. Inspired by the R but refined to meet the specific needs of the world’s top performers, the NC features an entirely new selection of facings, a revised rollover baffle for enhanced projection, and a generous dip in the chamber after the rollover baffle, which infuses the sound with a beautiful warmth. Additional features include redesigned sidewalls that foster an even and centered tone, a symmetrical tip rail for an immediate response at all volumes, and a longer shape that provides a more secure fit and easier tuning. As with its R and RC counterparts, the Classic NC Series is available for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, ensuring a consistent tonal base for the entire saxophone section and small ensembles.
E. Rousseau 3.0 JDX Series Saxophone Mouthpieces
The new E. Rousseau 3.0 JDX Series mouthpieces have been completely overhauled and redesigned, resulting in a fresh series that is free blowing, offers improved altissimo, and is very easy to control. These new models are an excellent choice for jazz bands and popular music styles. The unique “V chamber” design, which was previously exclusive to the original JDX Baritone, is now a feature of all the other models, including the brand-new JDX Soprano. Also, all the tip-opening numbers for the new JDX Series now align with other popular jazz mouthpieces. Like the other E. Rousseau 3.0 models, they feature an elegant matte finish with engraved logos and are made from start to finish at the JodyJazz factory in Savannah, GA.
E. Rousseau Band Director Section Kit
The Rousseau Band Director Section Kit is designed to enable band directors to take their sax sections to the next level. This specially selected set of mouthpieces will result in a more homogenous saxophone section that blends beautifully with the ensemble. The E. Rousseau Band Director Section Kit includes two Classic RC3 Altos, two Classic RC3 Tenors, and one Classic RC3 Baritone. A ligature and cap for the baritone mouthpiece are also included. Each mouthpiece is individually finished by hand and play tested to the strictest quality standards and with the utmost attention to detail.
