A Secret Weapon for Your Passive Ribbon and Dynamic Mics

Sweetwater has a toolbox essential for all recording and front-of-house engineers. If you've shied away from using low-output mics you love the sound of because you don't have access to a high-gain preamp, well, those days are over! The sE Electronics DM2 TNT is an active in-line preamp that boosts the signal of your passive ribbon and dynamic mics by a robust 15 or 30dB. You can easily choose from eight different load impedance settings, from 50 ohms to 10 megaohms, to pick the right one for every situation. Inserted between a passive ribbon or dynamic microphone and a mic preamplifier, the DM2 will also reduce the possibility of interference, while providing a healthy level to your preamp — without any added noise or coloration. Get optimum performance from the mics you love with the sE Electronics DM2 TNT!

High-performance Class A design

With its state-of-the-art Class A circuit and hand-selected high-grade FETs, the DM2 boasts the lowest self-noise in its class. What's more, thanks to its dedicated output buffer amplifier, the gain boost it delivers is always a consistent 15dB or 30dB regardless of the connected load — that's all thanks to the DM2's eight switchable impedance settings. Also, DM2's output impendence is the lowest in its class, allowing it to drive long cable runs while reducing susceptibility to RF interference, buzz, and hum.

Note: For optimum results, it is recommended to plug the DM2 directly into the output of the microphone. If necessary, a cable may be used between the microphone and the DM2 — but the shorter the cable, the better the overall performance.

sE Electronics DM2 TNT Features:

  • Requires passive microphone (ribbon/dynamic) and 48V phantom power
  • Not for use with phantom-powered microphones (condenser microphones, active ribbon mics)
  • 2 gain modes: 15dB or 30dB of clean, consistent gain
  • 8 load impedance settings, from 50 ohms to 10 megaohms
  • Designed for neutral, balanced sound quality
  • The perfect way to boost the signal of a passive microphone
  • Gain stays consistent regardless of connected load
  • Provides significantly improved level to your mic preamp for proper gain staging
  • State-of-the-art Class A electronics and high-grade FETs provide supremely class-leading low noise
  • Transformerless design for pristine sound quality
  • Extremely low output impedance drives long cable runs and reduces susceptibility to RF interference, buzz, and hum
  • Gold-plated XLR connector for loss-free and reliable signal connection
  • Slim, roadworthy all-metal housing with premium finish provides efficient rejection of electrical interference and noise
  • High-quality finish ensures a great look for many years
  • Slim design allows for easy deployment onstage or in the studio

Great
This thing is great , you get extra boost so you won't have hiss from turning gain up loud enough to hear your sm58 on a analog board , AND !!!
when you turn the impedence up it cleans the boomy sound out from acoustic guitar.
And vocal.. its almost like Eq .
I (no)longer need condenser mics for recording .
57s, 58s,e835s ,into sEtnt ,into zoom f6 .

Im getting another one . Or 2

My name is Arlo , and I approve this message..

Just got this in and I have to say it is the perfect companion for a Shure SM7B. Matching the impedance perfectly and loaded with plenty of gain, it makes a baritone vocal sparkle. Very, very happy with this purchase. And as always Sweetwater Customer Service and shipping 5 stars.
It works , finally dont have to crank a 58
It works great on a 58 , e835

, i had just bought a brand new 57 at a local music store a day before this came in , it and rite away it had a hum , even in batery powered zoomf6 . So after troubleshooting with mic cables a 58 and a senhizer e835 no hum at all . Its nice I like it .
Touned the small selector switch and got a sound I'd never heard from a 58 .
Now all sudden I need another one .

DM2 TNT 1ch preamp
works as advertised, I use it on the lower gain setting to bring up a dynamic mic on a system with laptop only control/adjustment of gain which has been programmed for more sensitive condenser mics in a group setting; the gains are set lower for the condensers so not enough for the vocal ones (SM58,etc.)
