DDMF’s PluginDoctor cross-platform plug-in analyzer is a powerful tool for both producers and plug-in creators, giving you unparalleled insight into how your plug-ins function. Must-have Tool
If you are serious about producing, you need the Doctor. There is no substitute for being able to accurately analyze whet your plugins are doing.
A must-have for serious audio engineers
The plain and simple reason to own this is to be able to understand and diagnose the other tools in your toolkit. It's helped give me insight into exactly what my plug-ins are doing, which means I know which ones to reach for to get the results I'm looking for, and it's even helped identify which ones are snake oil.

An excellent diagnostic and learning plugin
DDMF appears on YouTube in various capacities and shows interesting comparisons with plugins under the hood. When you first try it, it seems rather mundane when you view linearity or sine waves since any DAW can do that. But you have to learn what the curves mean and apply them properly. For example the Linear analysis is just that and should be used of linear contructions such as EQ- and that gives great comparisons. But anything with non-linear behavior like saturation and distortion need to use the harmonic analysis. Again this is just a sign wave with overtones which any DAW can do but the secret sauce is in the Hammerstein analysis ( which I have only seen on this plugin). It shows the harmonic spread odd/even/ mixed over frequency and time. This is fantastic to see what the plugin is actually doing. An again, compression is a different matter and the dynamics analyzer is for that with attack and release times.

The plugin access is rather dated (downloading and authorization), but one you have it in it is worthwhile. The first version apparently was a standalone and is great for Hardware analysis also, but the V2 which is the current one is a game changer and can be used in the DAW. Take the time to learn what the Plugin Doctor is doing (and more importantly Not doing) and you will have a powerful and practical tool. The plugin is also quite underpriced for all that it does. Get it is you like geeky things-you can't go wrong.
