Huge Acoustic Sound from a Conveniently Compact Combo

Vox is a legend in the electric guitar amplifier world. But with the release of the VX50 AG 50-watt combo, they are making a large splash in the acoustic guitar amp world as well. The VX50 AG is voiced with NuTube technology and boasts an 8" woofer mated with a bass reflex structure to throw a much larger sound than the amp's size would suggest. And you'll have all the connections you need for the gig via two channels with independent EQ, instrument and 1/4" inputs, onboard effects, and much more. Give the Vox VX50 AG a spin if you want a big, natural acoustic sound with compact combo convenience.

Tube tone for natural acoustic sound

As soon as you plug your acoustic-electric guitar into the Vox VX50 AG, you'll take notice of the thick harmonics and woody tone that come through its speaker. Your tone will be processed through Vox's NuTube-equipped preamp. Acoustic guitarists have been processing their sound through tube preamps in the studio for decades. Now's your chance to take that onstage. Once you experience the Vox VX50 AG from Sweetwater, you'll wonder why all acoustic guitar combos don't have tubes.

Engineered with acoustic sound in mind

The VX50 AG doesn't only push the envelope with its new internal spin on acoustic processing, its attractive cabinet and speaker system also play a massive role in the amp's deceptively large sound. Onboard you'll find an 8" woofer and high-frequency tweeter that balance your lows and highs, resulting in a flat response that allows the true nature of your instrument to shine through. Those speakers are housed in Vox's bass reflex structure, which enhances your acoustic guitar's low end. You simply won't believe how big of a sound the VX50 AG is capable of.

All the control you could want

The VX50 AG's two channels make the combo ideal for singer/songwriters and any acoustic-electric player that loves to perform. The channels boast inputs for 1/4" instrument and XLR cables. The XLR input even offers phantom power for use with your favorite condenser microphone. AUX input and headphone output make a powerful practice tandem, and you'll even find onboard reverb and chorus that can be utilized independently or together, adding a three-dimensional quality to your tone.

Vox VX50 AG 50-watt Acoustic Guitar Combo Amplifier Features:

  • Compact acoustic guitar combo that's ready for any gig
  • NuTube technology puts true tube tone in the preamp
  • 50 watts delivers good headroom for louder performances
  • 8" speaker and low-end enhancing bass reflex structure
  • 2 channels accept instrument and XLR inputs
  • Onboard chorus and reverb can be blended
  • Headphone output partners well with the amp's AUX input
  • XLR input boasts phantom power

Reviews

A remarkable amp.
I purchased the Sam from Sweetwater a couple months ago. My idea was to leave my PA at home and gig with something more compact in size and weight. I have to tell you when I unboxed the amp my first impression was, oh my gosh this isn't going to do it. This might be too small. But after spending time with it and working out the sounds of the microphone and the guitar, I took it to my next gig. Just acoustic guitar and vocals. no band. Medium sized restaurant. The sounds carried quite well. Afterwards I spoke with some of the employees who said they heard me fine and the sound was great so there we go. What I personally enjoy on this amp is the simplicity of the controls. If vox ever came out with a hundred watt version, I would definitely be interested. For anything larger I definitely have to fall back on the PA. I feel very important is the positioning of the amp, depending on where you play. I generally have it elevated on a chair 6 to 8 ft behind me. I have a better control of sound and volume that way. Of course everyone has their own preference and style. So if you feel this is the right one for you, go for it ! And thanks again Sweetwater. You guys are the greatest !
Music background: I started singing at age 6, started playing guitar at age 13, started giging at age 17. That was in 1971. Have played in different parts of the world, mainly in Europe. Hoping my health will let me continue. Thank you for your interest. - Hans.
Awesome amp!
Simply the best of its kind!
Amazing Acoustic Amp
Was looking f9or a lightweight amp with a warm, natural sound for my acoustic, nylon string Cordoba guitar. Ryan recommended the Vox. He was spot on! Checked off all the boxes!
Awesome little amp
This isn't a detailed reason why I bought this amp. I saw it, and because I have a Vox Beatle mini stack that I love, bought this one for my acoustic instruments (ʻukuleles and guitars). Wow. Is this little buggah loud!! I like the reverb. Very nice. And the fact that I can plug in a mic is a major plus. It's light, and sounds great. The cabinet is a tough plastic, and seems durable enough. Only time will tell. It would be nice if it came with a cover. But fear not. There are aftermarket covers out there. This series if amps has one for acoustic instruments, one for bass instruments, and one for keyboards. They all appear to be the same size, so a cover for one is a cover for all 3!! Have fun and be well.
Music background: Been noodling around on guitars and ʻukuleles for 60 years.
WOW!!!
I was skeptical when I ordered this. It is my first Vox amp. Then, I turned it on and played a Line 6 Variax and a Yamaha acoustic through it. WOW!!! Then, I ordered a Vox amp for my electric guitars. This little amp is warm, strong, and gave me eargasms. Everything about it fits me perfectly in our small studio. I haven't found anything about this amp, that I do not like. I LOVE this amp! I hope my wife doesn't get too jealous when I bring this amp to bed with me...
