Learn on This Harmonica!

Here's the perfect harmonica to learn on. The Hohner Special 20 gives you great tone and excellent bendability. Plus, since it has a special airtight design, the Special 20 is the choice for harmonica players of a bunch of different styles - from blues to country, folk to rock. The plastic comb also doesn't absorb moisture, so the Special 20 is made to last a long time. The Special 20 is the kind of harmonica you rely on, and the pick for countless gigging players (including Bob Dylan on his 2007/2008 tour). When quality and affordability count, go with the Hohner Special 20.

Reviews

hohner special 20 harmonica
the review gets 5 stars because of the amazing customer service and friendly approach to getting my harmonica. I usually play custom Marine Bands on a rack but there is alway a couple months wait time..after some research and speaking with the Sales People at Sweetwater I went with the 20..Its holding its own, nice and clean notes, no clogging or struggles on the 4th and 5th holes.
I dont spend much on my music but always come to Sweetwater!
Music background: a player for 50 years, various insteuments.
Love It
My old Pro Harp was loosing it's paint and some of the reeds were starting to stick but after 20 years what do you expect. Decided to try the Special 20 and really liking the sound.

Plays well right out of the box, including draw bends
Having bought a lot of harps the past 2 years, as I finally got serious about getting better, I've tried various models of Hohner, Seydel, Tombo Lee Oskar, and Suzuki harmonicas. Overall, you can't beat the current Hohner Special 20 with respect to value for the money. This one was typical--played well right out of the box, including draw bends. The Special 20's tone and playability are really good, usually without needing any gap adjustments. To me, as an intermediate player, the Special 20 sound is comparable to the more expensive Hohner Crossover and even more expensive Seydel 1847 Silver and Noble, all of which I prefer to the Tombo Lee Oskars and Suzukis I've bought. I have 3 full sets, one in my music room, one in my computer room, and one in my car (all keys, plus some low harps, minor harps, solo-tuned harps, tremelo, concerto, country-tuned, Richter-tuned, chord, and bass), and I now own 19 Special 20's, 8 Crossovers, and 8 Seydel 1847s. By the numbers, you can see that the Special 20's are the workhorses in my harmonic addict collection. They sound really good and they're so darned affordable. I'm hoping that the Special 20's brass reeds last better than they did in the Hohner "Marine Band Special 20 (the precursor of the current "Progressive" Special 20). I recently "retired" two of the MB Special 20's due to blown reeds, which I'm tryint to get my nerve up to try replacing. I'd had them for probably 5-6 years, but only played them regularly the past 2 years.

Quality Product
I am new to playing the harmonica, but I am impressed with the consistent sound and build quality of these Special 20 harmonicas. I will soon be gigging with these and look forward to years of performing with them.
