Powerful

By Danny D. from Atlanta, GA

Very powerful and easy blowing MP. Only sad part is it doesn't come with a ligature.

Exactly what I’ve been looking for

By Alan K. from Bradenton, FL

I've been playing 62 years…yeah, I'm old, but still play quite a bit and love to just play at home too. Every time I would hear one of these demoed my ears would perk up. What a happy alto sound compared to others in the demos. Sweetwater had a great Black Friday deal that included a Selmer ligature too, so I bit. I thought since I have an old Selmer sax maybe the Selmer mouthpiece would be a good match. I know pieces can be an individual preference and some pieces don't work well with different makes of horns, but this is the best alto piece I've ever played for what I'm doing now, and I've played a bunch. Mouthpiece is a 7, sax is a 62 MKVI, still on my first reed, a BSS black label 3. Lots of volume, sub tone is great, flexibility shaping the tone, but the best thing the response. Problems I thought might be the horn like a leaking pad or adjustment are gone. Still have an old handpicked Meyer hr 6 small chamber that I bought back in 78 that plays great, but this new Jazz Flow is addicting to play…for me.

good for lead

By Don D. from New England
Music Background: multi reed player. Alto sax in The Microscopic Septet,Bari sax player in The NH Jazz orchestra.

I got this alto mouthpiece to use on my Aristocrat vintage sax and it works well. So far this seems like a versatile mouthpiece and perhaps is best used in a lead position for a big band or solo situation. Not the warmest MP but has a focused cutting sound and plays in tune. As with any MP there is an adjustment period to settle in with it. I find it too bright for my Mark 6 alto but seems just right for a couple other vintage horns I use (Conn NW2, Aristocrat). When looking for the right sound on different horns I have gone down this rabbit hole of trying different mouthpieces and this Selmer Paris Jazz Flow is nice. I first saw this reviewed by Steve Neff and would highly recommend as a mouthpiece expert!
