Seymour Duncan Pickups - It's all about the tone!

Think of the SCR-1 Cool Rails as the cleaner, brighter brother of the Hot Rails. The SCR-1 Cool Rails are wound to have a more dynamic sound, and are perfect for players who need a louder, punchier, single-coil sound with plenty of fatness. The same twin-coil design like that found in the Hot Rails is used, so this single-coil-sized beauty is a true humbucker. Guitarists of every genre have utilized the SCR-1 Cool Rails as the key to their tone!

Seymour Duncan SCR-1 Cool Rails at a Glance:
  • Sound
  • Complete setup

Sound
The SCR-1 Cool Rails are a smooth and bluesy single-coil-sized "rails" humbucker, recommended for blues, classic rock, jazz-rock fusion, heavy rock, and aggressive instrumental rock. Created by popular demand, Cool Rails use the same twin coil design as the Hot Rails, but are wound to produce a clearer, brighter, and more dynamic sound. Hotter and louder than both the Vintage Staggered (SSL-1) Hot Stack (STK-S2) pickups, Cool Rails are for players who need a louder, punchier, and fatter single-coil sound. The SCR-1 Cool Rails comes with four-conductor hookup cable.

Complete setup
The SCR-1 Cool Rails are available for both bridge and neck/middle positions. For an incredibly versatile guitar, use an SCR-1n in the neck position along with an SHR-1b Hot Rails in the bridge and an SVR-1n Vintage Rails in the middle. The SCR-1 Cool Rails works well in all well-balanced instruments, and responds equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards.

Reviews

Love this pickup!
Using this in an HSH Strat in the middle pickup position. I'm able to get classic clean Strat tones and also crank it up for some crunchy sounds as well. Very happy with this purchase. I paired it with a jazz neck and JB model in the bridge. Perfect combo for anyone looking for a versatile setup.
Amazing
This pickup is great, the best I have ever owned. The humbucker sounding is fantastic, whereas the single coil split is also great. Just buy it and your search for quality and tone will be over.
Great pickup!
This is an incredible pickup!
I have this paired with a Dimarzio Fred in a Charvel Model 275.
Great tone, drive and very articulate. This is a great match to the Fred bridge pickup or any medium output pickup. I've also had this paired up with a Screamin Demon in another guitar and it was killer!
Just an all around great strat style pickup w/out the hum and quite versatile. You wont be disappointed!
Good neck pickup
I have paired this pickup with two Rio Grande pickups the Stelly and a Halfbreed in the middle. This Stratocaster is Screaming now. The combo of the two Rio Gande's and the Cool Rail really works!!!
Music background: Heavy Rock, Metal and yes even Country.
1st DIY Moddification
I dont know. My first attempt at modifying my Fender Mexi-strat, so keep that in mind. This pup seems to make the other two stock pups snarl (especially the bridge pup. Ive tried reversing the green and black wires and same thing. Lower output than the stock pups also, not to mention the tone doesnt seem worth the effort anyway. More experienced modders might find the result different.
