I want a simple setup for my home demos. I would like a touch of compression, and the Triton Audio Kompressor In-line Compressor gives me a wide range of compression, perfect for my setup.
ALSO…Its built-in amplifier juices my already marvelous Shure 545S til it sounds like a high-dollar condenser!
Uncolored, the sound and response I'm used to, just WAY more headroom!

The best quality sound through not expensive microphone with this optical compressor I ever heard on analog mixer. The things optical compressor compresses all frequencies low mid and high, no coloring no frequency cuts and adding mids or heights. Real HiFi sound!

Before I describe the Kompressor, some backstory: A few years ago I bought the Cali76 Compact Deluxe FET compressor pedal from Origin Effects and fell in love. It's shocking transparent - one of those effects where you don't consciously notice it's on, but immediately miss it when it's off. Eventually I tried it with a mic and found it also excelled on vocals. Now I had a dilemma: keep pulling out my guitar pedal board every time I want to sing, or buy another one. It's pretty bulky and would take up space on my desk, and rackmount compressors seemed like overkill for tracking in.

Enter this guy. It's a one-knob FET-Opto that's almost as clear as the Cali76, but fits in my pocket! It's more-or-less living on the back of my Sennheiser e935, set about 50-75% of the way up depending on the song. At 100% it exhibits that compressor suck/pump where even spoken vocals lose way too much dynamic range to sound natural. But dial it back just a little and it's great. Since you don't have a proper ratio, threshold, attack, or release knob, it's not as transparent as the Cali76. My wife describes it as having an "NPR Radio" sound, where it's noticeably processed but fairly natural and pleasantly smooth at my settings. As far as use-cases, I've tested it mostly on folk and rock. I've also used it on Discord calls when gaming with friends. So nice to avoid a clipped mic when I get excited.

Anyway, I can see me buying more of these in the future. I dare you to find something smaller and clearer for cheaper.

It works well and for my SM7B (inline along with my Avalon V5) at least - and it seems to have a bit more gain boost than my CloudLifter. I also like that you can select the amount of compression which has both a clearly audible effect of course as well as that visual "compressed" effect in the stems. My only issue is that the "less or more" knob is kinda cheap and falls out easily. When they first shipped this to me the knob was missing actually. I got a replacement quick and it had the knob this time but, as I said, it's kinda cheap, falls out easily, and I can see how it may have easily been lost in the original packing. I imagine that if this product gets more popular (and it probably will because it works well otherwise) they may address that problem - at least I think they should. Overall I recommend if you're looking for that gain boost to control noise or whatever else.
