Reviews

Working Perfect
Very sturdy and adjusted to my new Roland RD-88 EX keyboard. Although pricey, it is much better than other branded keyboard stands of the same style, e.g. On Stage, Liquid Stands, Gator, etc.
Music background: Cover bands & studio gigs
Nice stand, maybe not for gigging
I've been using the same 'table-style' keyboard stand for around 20 years. After hundreds of gigs & bouncing around in the back of the van to/from the gigs, it looks rough. So I decided to try this new Roland table-style stand.

The Roland KS-13 looks great on stage or in a studio. It is very sturdy. It has a latch to lock the width of the stand in place. It won't 'accordion' open on you when you move it. Those are the 'pros' for this stand.

Now for the 'cons':
It's awkward to transport. It folds up in a similar way to other table-style stands, but in a less compact way. It's harder to carry than my old stand. The legs want to swing around. Also, when folded up, the legs rub against each other and rub off the black coating, leaving shiny silver marks. If I wanted to carry this around to gigs, I'd need to wrap it in a cloth or moving blanket and use some bungee cords.

The KS-13 is not easy to adjust to different heights. It only has 3 height settings for the legs. The screws that set the height are VERY challenging to adjust. There are no indentations to help you find the screw holes -- instead, you have to line them up by eye and then hope you don't misthread the screws.

If you plan to set up this stand once and not move it, then it's a great stand. But if you plan to use it for gigs, then it will be considerably more fussy / hard to move & set up than other table-style stands. I'm keeping mine but it will probably stay at home.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
