It works as described
It definitely adds a lot of gain and I didn't detect any distortion.
I used it to prove to myself that my volume issue was my cheap audio interface so I bought a better one.
But I still find a use for this occasionally and it is not going anywhere.

Great product, no floor noise and gives the singer plenty of space so does not require the singer to be on top of the mic!
Plus you don't need an extra XLR cable like others!
Not Radio Frequency Interfearance Shielded
These preamps are a useful tool if you are working in a low RF environment. However they are not shielded for Radio Frequencies. If your venue is located near a radio station transmitter you will get RFI in your audio signal. Know your working environment before making this purchase. I returned three of these.
Pre-Amps for Congregational Mics
Great product and even more impressed by the Sales Engineer Shaka who recommended it. I described the issue and he then proceeded to ask for a little more information. Then he made the recommendation and did a subsequent follow up to ensure the product was working as desired. Short answer: Works Great!!! Purchased these pre-amps to improve the congregational sound for our church's live stream as well as sound feed into our Nursery. Thanks Shaka and Sweetwater!
Great find
I don't record many vocals so didn't buy a top end mic. The Fathead preamp added the extra boost that I needed to improve the quality of my recordings.
Excellent preamp for field/venue/meeting audio
These devices are top notch. I'm using them with a variety of phantom powered microphones and they work perfectly. Feeding them into a Tascam Procapture X8, which powers them nicely and the noise floor is as low as ever and the clean 'kick' is perfect. Obviously, the form factor of these units is also a huge plus, making them easy to drop into a field recording bag, with nearly zero weight.
I like these so much that I just ordered another, the "plain" FetHead, that does not pass through phantom power, for use in my vlog setup with a boom mic.
