I've also owned the original Fet Head in-line XLR Pre-Amp in 2015 or 2016 and started to use it when i get my Shure SM7B
With the original, it really douse the job as advertised, it has nice clean gain were as my ART Tube MP/C and ART Tube MP Pre-amp's only, can do the job to gather, but when both the Limiter hits the threshold, the Noise come back, even 1 Art Tube pre-amp, cranked to 100% / 65 dB of gain, the noise was very noticeable,

With Fet head the noise becomes less apparent and noticeable night and day difference.

i wanted to try out "Germanium", and there is a sound color and punch, charterer thats different to the original Fet Head witch is neutral,

if your looking for a other then neutral sound XLR Pre Amp, i give a strong Recommend to Fet Head Germanium and any Fet Head products,

best product ever

I was eager to try this, but I'm sad to say I never really got to. I tried using it with a Royer R-10 (ribbon mic) that was on a cranked 1x12 in an iso cab. The signal was so hot (coming into an A&H Avantis) that even with the pad engaged, and the mic gain all the way off, it was still hard clipping the input. :-(

For a lower stage volume miced up anp this might work??? Not sure, but for a cranked up amp, it provided WAY too much gain. Too bad there is no way to tame it down a bit.
