Yamaha DHR12M 1000W 12-inch Powered Floor Monitor Reviews
Fueled by 1,000 watts of Class D power, the Yamaha DHR12M packs a high-impact sound that belies its compact, low-profile shape. This outstanding powered PA speaker features coaxial low-frequency 12-inch and 1.75-inch high-frequency drivers, which exhibit near-perfect phase response, a full-range 52Hz–20kHz frequency response, and an impressive 129dB maximum SPL. Your entire audience will experience consistent sound, thanks to the DHR12M’s 90-degree by 60-degree coverage angle, while 48-bit DSP and Yamaha’s acclaimed D-Contour intelligent multiband compressor assure minimal crossover distortion and predictable sonic performance at any volume. This active loudspeaker also includes flexible FOH/Main and Monitor operational modes. The DHR12M boasts a rugged polyurea-coated compact plywood enclosure and a 35mm socket for effortless placement on a stand or pole.
They're OK
They're not bad, by any means. They just don't have the headroom and clarity I was hoping for. If your stage is quieter than mine, then these will do fine for 1/3rd the price of an RCF NX12-SMA. My stages tend to be too loud for these to work well for me.
Plenty of headroom!
We are using two of these monitors in our practice studio for our four piece band. All our members (especially our drummer) can hear what's going out through our PA and the volume is still less than 1/2 of what's available. No hum, no buzz, just clean sound. Can't wait to use them live!
Big Sound
These monitors don't take up a lot of space on stage and the sound is very clean and clear. If I had to do it all over I would buy these Yamaha monitors again. Very pleased with the Sound and Quality of my purchase. The Monitors even arrived a day earlier than expected.
Thank you Sweetwater
Great Monitors
Love these monitors!!! I have used them at several places. And they never seem to disappoint.Very clear and very loud. With plenty of high end defintion. You won't go wrong with these wedges.
Love this speaker!
Got this at a great price and absolutely love the results. Has great clarity!! Great for at home practice as well as live performance. Always happy with my friends at Sweetwater!!
Yamaha Monitors "Always the best"
I purchased a set of 2 for my live sound, I ended up using them also in home studio also,
Great sound, compact, easy to use, rugged. I have passive Yamaha monitors that have served my for 30+ years
I expect the same from these. I like the 12in as it is more compact
We love these monitors
These sound so clear and crisp and have surprisingly full range for 12's. We've been getting lots of good comments about them from musicians using them at our venue. Feedback has been basically nonexistent due to the predictable frequency response from all directions. The DSP options are simple and useful and not overly complex or contrived like many of these powered wedges tend to be. Not to mention they're attractive, well built, and compact. I do have two small complaints: the design of the knobs on the back seems prone to damage, should they get stepped on or bumped; and also, I wish there was powercon in (and thru) rather than a traditional IEC power socket, which could get pulled out easily during a performance. A soft bag storage option would be really nice too.
Great wedge
The DHR12M is the perfect form factor for a wedge on tight stages. It sounds great straight out of the box and is LOUD. Took 4 of these on their first gig and I was really impressed with how easy they were to setup and it takes EQ well. Looking forward to a long future with these boxes.
Great floor monitor
I have a Bose L1Pro8 that I couldn't hear myself when playing with others going thru a Yamaha mixer, so I bought this as a floor monitor. You can use this as a stand alone speaker with a mixer as it is loud for small venues. Love it; recommend it. I have it hooked to a Yamaha 12 channel mixer and it is great. Highly recommend it.
Great FRFR monitor
Great FRFR monitor
BIG clarity in a small box
This Wedge Kicks Ass
Play Alot of Shows Not Into In Ears Though i Tried But This Thing is Excellent Had Been Using Top Brand Monitors But None Of Them Compare To These The Quality Of Sound And The Area The Cover Is Excellent Very happy With my Purchase..
Great Speaker and great company...
I have bought 2 of these now and I am loving the coaxial speaker system. The sound is clear and correct throughout the frequency spectrum. I am using these for my Fractal FM9T and also as my FOH for my acoustic show. If you are on the fence buying this, buy it, you will have no regrets. Just remember, as all speakers do, you need at least about 30 hours of break-in to take the stiffness out of the cones. And Sweetwater delivered this very quickly. Another great buy through Sweetwater.
Best Compact Speaker I've Ever Heard
These are truly incredible-sounding speakers. the clarity and transparent response is unmatched at this price point. My only wish is that they made a bigger version of this when you need a bit more power.
Solid, Flexible, Reliable
This loudspeaker continues the tradition of Yamaha quality production and brilliant design. The simple and flexible controls along with the physical configuration make this suitable for monitor or FOH applications.
Yamaha 1000W powered wedge monitors
I searched for a powerful, mobile monitor speaker with a quality reputation. I have been exposed to studios, live sound enviroments and home studios. Yamaha has a positive rep for building a powerful quality product. I purchased 2 cause I'm back into playing live and the other guitarist in my band had smaller monitors that couldn't cut it when we needed vocals to get thru the sound level we are playing at. I have never been disappointed with paying a little more for quality that lasts.
Exceeds my expectations
I got 1 of these a few months ago to try as a live bass guitar amp and have been extremely impressed. Lots of low end and power, light weight and can be used in monitor or vertical positions. 1 unit has been enough for all but 1 very loud situation, so I got a second one for that rehearsal. With 2 stacked it's super loud, lots of low end but still tight and cuts through. But most of the time I only need 1 and Of course a preamp is needed for bass or guitar. I've also used it as a stage monitor while playing drums at gigs. Everyone is impressed and asks what I'm playing through, including a pro sound guy that got some for his company after hearing mine live. I didn't buy from sweet water but only because they didn't have any available yet at the time I needed it
