Hybrid Acoustic-electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Mahogany Top, Mahogany Neck, and Ebony Fingerboard - Bourbon Burst

Guitarists of diverse styles and tastes are finding their voice in the new Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster. Now you no longer have to choose between acoustic and electric sounds for the gig; this hybrid takes you from folk and bluegrass flatpicking to greasy rock and soul with the flip of a switch. The secrets are twofold: a comfortable SIRS body, built to resonate like an acoustic instrument while giving you the fret access and playability of your favorite steel-string, and the pairing of two cutting-edge premium pickup systems with powerful DSP. In the bridge position, you’ll find a traditional offset Tele pickup packed with bluesy grit and Texas twang, and just behind that, the Fishman Matrix under-saddle piezo system for the soft-edged cluck of your favorite direct acoustic. Seven distinct acoustic profiles take you from solo fingerstyling to Nashville singer/songwriter without additional pedals. An onboard rechargeable battery powers it all. Pair these with a great-playing American Professional profile Tele neck, and the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster from Sweetwater equips you for whatever session awaits.

Love this guitar

By John S. from Pennsylvania
Music Background: Gigging musician

So I've had the American Acoustasonic Telecaster, all mahogany version in Burbon burst, for a year and a half now. I've played over a 100 gigs with it. I absolutely love it.

When I first played it, it was a bit weird playing a Tele with acoustic guitar strings on it, but it didn't take long to get used to it. I put on a set of fender locking tuners, and changed the strings to D'Addario XS 10-47 acoustic strings. Love the action, tuning stability and long life of the strings on this guitar.

I love all the different sounds it can do, and going from what sounds like a nice acoustic sound to a Tele pickup, that with a blues driver pedal, sounds like molten lava just by flipping the selector switch.

Is this guitar for everyone, absolutely not. Many purchased this new when it came out and then flooded stores with used ones after a month or two. But if it fits you, like it fits me...you'll fall in love with its versatility and feel.

The one thing some may want to do is get a pickguard. I will definitely need one soon. The way I play means my hand hits the body often..and its already started to get a shine from the wear.

My one complaint is, I wish they would have done a easily replaced battery like on the Mexican version, that takes a regular 9v battery. The American version has a built-in rechargeable battery. It can last a couple 3 hour gigs without a charge, but I'd rather have an easy way to replace the battery when needed.

The case is soft case that is very protective, but not a hardshell technically, which is surprising considering the price. But I don't mind it, and keeps overall weight down.
