The All-purpose 214ce — Upgraded with Roasted Spruce!

Stage-ready features, chiseled sonics, and unsurpassed playability are ripe for the taking when you pick up a Taylor 214ce Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar from Sweetwater. The 214ce’s Grand Auditorium body shape can rival a larger guitar’s power and projection, while its tapered waist and body cutaway supply superior comfort along with a useful sonic focus that recording engineers love. The 214ce’s fast and slender mahogany neck plays effortlessly. And layered walnut back and sides churn out delectable tone that’s practically fit for any style of play. Longtime Taylor fans may also notice this 214ce’s top — it’s still made from solid Sitka spruce, which now receives a torrefied roasting treatment for enhanced sonics and a snazzy look that summons you to its side!

Sitka and walnut: a classic tonewood combination

Layered walnut back and sides give the 214ce a warm, airy presence that’s typically easy-going but tightens up with a midrange growl when played aggressively. Walnut has long been a preferred acoustic tonewood for studio work, and you’ll find the 214ce dynamically responds to your fingers’ mood and energy. This 214ce boasts powerful projection, perhaps even more than previous generations! Taylor now treats the 214ce’s solid Sitka spruce top to a special roasting procedure known as torrefaction. This process enhances spruce’s musicality (and looks) by removing moisture and sugars for a lighter, more resonant top that vibrates with ease.

Grand Auditorium body style for amazing comfort, tone, and visuals

Taylor’s beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 214ce, employs the width and depth of a dreadnought; however, its waist is narrower, which gives Grand Auditorium–bodied acoustic guitars a sleeker look with more treble zing. The body style also helps to sharpen the definition of each note. From fingerpicking to medium strumming, the Grand Auditorium is a flexible choice that’s ready for countless genres and virtually any playing style.

Built-in ES2 electronics system for great onstage tone

Taylor's Expression System 2 uses a proprietary pickup behind the saddle. The pickup's three individually calibrated, precisely positioned piezo-electric sensors respond organically to the instrument's acoustic energy as it's transferred through the saddle. In concert with Taylor's custom-designed preamp, the result is a natural acoustic sound with incredible dynamic range and responsiveness. Sweetwater's guitar gurus are mightily impressed with Taylor's Expression System 2.

Taylor 214ce Features:

  • Grand Auditorium body shape delivers a potent blend of comfort, playability, and power
  • Solid torrefied Sitka spruce top resounds with a full and sweet sound
  • Updated C-Class bracing for top-notch projection and dynamic prowess
  • Layered walnut back and sides keep tone focused with rustic clarity and a warm sound
  • Graceful Venetian cutaway gives you free access to the upper frets
  • Tropical mahogany neck with supple shape, topped with an ebony fingerboard

Reviews

My first Taylor
I recently purchased a Taylor 214 ce guitar
I truly love it and it's definitely worth the money
it really is a fantastic guitar and the service from Sweetwater is always top shelf and professional
sales team to help with my purchase, I always
recommend sweetwater to anyone who needs anything for their guitar journey
Seriously an amazing guitar
If you are looking for an acoustic guitar, this is the one. The price point alone makes this a no brainer. Taylor quality is outstanding, and the sound is incredible. Sure, you can pay more and of course they only get better (usually), but for $, you can't go wrong. This is a serious guitar for those beginning to play and for those who have been playing. I just can't say enough good things about this guitar. And Sweetwater is the only place to buy your sound instruments and equipment. It's the only place I buy from. Best information, support and sales engineers.

Buy a Taylor guitar. You won't regret it!
Music background: Former drummer. Now guitar nut.
very very nice!!
I tried a bunch of acoustics and found that this model hits all the specs and sounds I was looking for in this price range. The Ibanez guitars' frets seemed cheap and the Taylor 212ce was too small.

I love that Sweetwater provides the pictures for each of the guitars they have in stock. This one spoke to me.

I needed a guitar that could sound and play great with light gauge strings (10-47's), still sound full and not have any issues with the action with lighter gauge.

Straight out of the box this one sounded great with no fret buzzing anywhere and no fret sprouting!! I put 10's on it and it was still perfect with no buzz or anything! The Ebony fingerboard is nice! The neck has a very comfortable feel, thin with a slight V shape. I love the silky matte finish. I think the thinner matte finish allows guitars to resonate better.

The guitar with the case is still very light weight.
Taylor 214ce

I was looking to upgrade from my old Ibanez, and the Taylor 214ce is exactly what I was looking for. It has a big sound and was very playable out of the box. I couldn't ask for a better acoustic guitar under $. Working with Sweetwater made the purchase and decision a breeze.

Great guitar
