Mackie is a Proven Leader in Analog Mixers

Beyond sounding great, the Mackie 1604VLZ4 mixer is one piece of gear you can truly rely on. It continues the VLZ Series' trend for rock-solid construction, while taking your sound quality to a new level. You've got an amazingly wide dynamic range, incredible 60dB gain range on the Onyx microphone preamplifiers, and ultra-low-noise performance. The 1604VLZ4 also boasts better-than-ever RF rejection for prime performance in broadcast situations. And with high-resolution meters, generous I/O, and sealed rotary controls that keep out dust and grime, the Mackie 1604VLZ4 is one of Mackie's best mixers ever.

Mackie 1604VLZ4 16-channel Mixer at a Glance:

  • Sealed rotary controls ensure long-term reliability
  • Incredible sound quality
Premium-quality mixer with proven components

The Mackie 1604VLZ4 is, first and foremost, a Mackie mixer. It houses 16 of Mackie's premium-quality Onyx mic preamps for natural, transparent sound. Its mic/line channels are equipped with 3-band EQ with sweepable mids. Signal routing is easy and flexible. On top of all that, the Mackie 1604VLZ4 is built Mackie-tough - trust this mixer to perform even in the most harrowing situations.

Sealed rotary controls ensure long-term reliability

Sure, the Mackie 1604VLZ4 mixer will shrug off bumps, drops, and outright abuse, but what about spills or rain? Thankfully, the 1604VLZ4 boasts sealed rotary controls that resist grime, dust, and anything else that may spill onto your mixer. We're not saying it's fully waterproof, but it's an extra level of protection you'll eventually be very glad you have when you're running live sound in a hectic environment.

Incredible sound quality

VLZ stands for "very low noise", and that's just part of the appeal of the Mackie 1604VLZ4 mixer. In all you've got a 128.5dB dynamic range, making it easy to achieve full, punchy mixes. The Onyx mic preamps have a 60dB gain range, so you can get the best out of virtually any microphone. And because the 1604VLZ4's line inputs handle +22 dBu signal levels, you can connect high-output sound sources without worrying about distorting your inputs.

Mackie 1604VLZ4 16-channel Mixer Features:
  • Amazingly rugged analog mixer with 16 microphone preamplifiers
  • Onyx mic preamps offer up to 60dB of gain for great performance with any mic
  • Ultra-low-noise performance gives you clean, clear sound
  • High-resolution stereo meters give you fast, easy visual indication of your signal levels
  • Sealed rotary controls resist dust and grime
  • Four-bus design and intuitive routing make it easy to create submixes for easier, faster mixing

It's hard to beat the sound and performance of the Mackie 1604VLZ4!

Reviews

finally, indented pots
i have owned one of these, in different versions, since i was born....... currently i just have the 1402 but i am getting this 1604 asap..... version 4 has indented pots so u can feel the center position w/out needing a flashlight n 20/20 vision....... btw, i have A-B'd these with Soundcraft UI16..... no comparision.... the analogue signal is clean n no converters.... the digi mixer sounded like u were working w/ mp3's.

this is my pre review........
Music background: punk rock man
Great small format mixer
Great little mixer. I use it on my drums to use with the hybrid kit so that I can get a better mix in my monitor system. Does everything I need with direct routes to the main system. Awesome little mixer. The only downside is I believe the RotoPod rackmount stuff should be included for the price.
Reliable peace of equipment
I have great history with this 16 channel mixer. I use one personally and have installed this Mackie mixer in many Schools and Churches over the years. No complaints.
The real 16 channel mixer
Our band uses several mixers, including a full up Bose system for various sized rooms. However, in most cases we use this 1604 because of several key functions. SUPER clean Onyx pre-amplifiers and great headroom are key, but the ability to have 4 dedicated aux buses is spectacular to give three vocalist their own In Ear monitor channel dialed up with just the amount of their own voice and instrument and balanced other channels since every channel has an Aux pot for all 4 buses. You wont' find chip based on board vocal effects but then that's what Midiverbs and other delays are for! I bought the case for this and the modification for $ that allows you to move all of the 1/4 and XLR inputs to all 16 channels up onto the same plane as the top panel and sliders. The sound out of this board is spectacular and clear. Huge range of frequency control on each channel and each channel can be solo'd to see and set the level.
Great!!!
Very good product and a wonderful team to work with you if you have any electronic needs!
