Yamaha YDS-120 Digital Saxophone Reviews
If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at saxophone, the Yamaha YDS-120 is an excellent place to start. It’s affordable and very accessible. You can play the YDS-120 anywhere, any time. Late-night sessions without disturbing others? No problem! With 15-step volume adjustment and high-quality samples of 73 instruments, including 56 soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxes, you’re in command — and you’ll always sound great. While not a replacement for acoustic saxophones, the Yamaha YDS-120 is designed to go where no traditional horn can. It runs on USB power or four AAA batteries, so you connect with software or go busking in the park. This innovative instrument blurs the line between organic and synthetic, providing the best of both worlds by delivering Yamaha’s advanced digital sound with the tactile playing feel of familiar sax fingering. Awesome!
You already can't really go wrong with Yamaha and this fits right in with my Sax collection. Although it doesn't advertise as a MIDI controller it actually is one. Now I can practice in silence and record reference tracks into my Daw at 3am without disturbing anyone. The price is also great, others that advertise as MIDI controllers are over $.
What an amazing piece of equipment
My husband bought me this for Christmas. I haven't been able to put it down! I've been playing the saxophone since I was in elementary school, about 17 years now. I live in an apartment and I don't really get a chance to play or practice like I should. This has rekindled my love for the saxophone so much that I went out and bought 6 or 7 Rubank method books. The digital saxophone gives me the opportunity to play in my apartment without disturbing my neighbors. It is a great purchase all around!

It has been over 40 years since I have played a saxophone and with this you don't have to worry about the ombishure issues of "relearning" it all over. It is wonderful to be able to play any of the sax platforms, being able to switch between the four is great and it has helped to ease back into the refamiliarization of the saxophone playing that I loved way back when.
