M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 49-key Keyboard Controller Reviews
Oxygen MIDI controllers have always offered excellent features and performance at an affordable price point. Now, M-Audio has taken Oxygen to the next level with Oxygen Pro, which provides everything you need to make music at a pace that keeps up with your professional creative workflow. It all starts with a newly designed velocity-sensitive, semi-weighted keybed with aftertouch and assignable zones. For beat production, clip launching, and more, Oxygen Pro is equipped with 16 backlit, assignable, velocity-sensitive RGB pads with Note Repeat. Oxygen Pro 49 and 61 feature nine onboard faders and eight assignable knobs and buttons; the Oxygen Pro 25 forgoes the faders and buttons in favor of a compact design that fits in your backpack. All three models rock a road-ready, USB bus-powered chassis with an intuitive layout and informative OLED screen that’ll have you up and running right out of the box.

M-Audio pro oxygen 49
Great service for my rep the absolute best Joel Helton As for the keyboard an excellent choice.
Amazing Product
This is my first midi controller, prior to this purchase I had no real knowledge of these things or just how capable they are, I've played guitar and that's it.
The Oxygen Pro 49 integrated seamlessly with Logic Pro with virtually three or four short steps (auto-map feature). You just choose your interface, Operating System/Workstation and then DAW, it's that easy.
This unit opened up the Pandora's box within Logic that I was told had been waiting for me. I had no idea the plethora of sounds I would be experiencing as well as the ability to operate every feature in Logic with a single button, pad or key on the controller, and having integrate with EZ Drummer3 is also a big plus.
The creative possibilities in my studio now seem infinite, it's all up to me now to produce something worthy.
Price wise, I think it's a great deal for what you get and the opportunities it provides.
What I need now is for Sweetwater to consider me a VIP customer and send me a pair of Yamaha HS5 monitors and subwoofer…(doesn't hurt to dream right?).
Best Keyboard I've Owned
Oxygen Pro 49 is top-notch. The included drum pads are super useful (if you set the sensitivity just right). There's a built-in arpeggiator, tons of faders and knobs, and a very easy setup (with many DAW presets included). Worked out of the box with Studio One 5. Other than that, the keys themselves feel very weighted and realistic, which is probably the best aspect of it. So if you can afford it, I recommend this to any serious producers or composers out there.
Best MIDI controller in the market!!!!!
I bought this keyboard a while ago and now I have really made up my mind about it. I would not trade this for anything in the world right now, if you are a new producer or even if you have a lot of experience in the studio, this keyboard is absolutely bonkers. Great construction, great semi weighted key feel and pad feel, amazingly fast and easy DAW integration, very easy to understand its features and options and many more features I haven't even used.
When it come to MIDI controllers do not cheap out and get an Akai MPK as your first one like I did, great controller as the MPK is I now use it as a travel controller because of its great portability. Get one of these and you will have a great tool for your creations
First midi controller
I know I'm not using to it's full potential, haven't quite figured out how to assign the pads. Love the keyboard (I'm not a pianist), the velocity seems to be pretty good. This has helped me add a new layer to my songs with relative ease, thanks to the chord and scale functions. I'm liking this a lot, except my cat seems to also love sleeping on it.
Love it! Tested with Ableton and Studio One
I've had it for about a month now, and it has been a blast to use. I noticed one review mentioned Studio One integration doesn't work -- that hasn't been my experience. Transport, faders, etc. all seem to work well for me in Studio One 5 Artist on Windows 10. Make sure you set the right DAW and OS on the Oxygen Pro, and follow the additional setup for your DAW.
Other than that, the key action is great for the price range, aftertouch is cool, and the level of control is unreal. Decent software package also. Presets are nice for the included VSTs, and the M-Audio Editor software is really intuitive. Hard to find anything to complain about at this price point!
I’m right handed
Ps drum pads on this, yeah I'm right handed, it mattered! Good job!
Great So Far
I am still learning all about the Pro 49, but so far, I very much like what I've been able to do. Excited to learn and use to its fullest!
Great, if you like to fill out online forms instead of playing music.
Nice keyboard, feels good, many great options but…M-Audio made the rest of the experience a complete nightmare. Registering the keyboard, downloading plug-ins, ilok licensing, all ridiculously confusing, complicated and invasive. Really soured my impression of what should be a simple, useful midi controller.
*Does not integrate with Studio One
I just upgraded from the Oxygen 49 to this pro version. I was super excited because it looked, felt, and was supposed to function like a pro version. I will say it FEELS better than the standard Oxygen. However, the biggest selling point to me was the faders, knobs, rec buttons, mute buttons, solo buttons, and select buttons and how they would "automatically" integrate with your DAW.
Not my experience at all. (MIGHT BE DIFFERENT WITH ABELETON OR PRO TOOLS)
I have emailed M-audio and they told me I need to talk to Presonus. So I emailed Presonus, and they told me I need to talk to the manufacturer. Frustration of that experience aside, I will be returning the keyboard and going with a different option.
It does have an arp and chord mode that's cool, if your DAW doesn't already have that built in.
Big Disappointment
Was in the market for a new controller and watched many videos on the different controllers out there and this got great reviews. I've had it for a few days and the nightmare still continues. To start the M-Audio web site is a joke as they have been (I'm assuming) bought out by another company whoever inMusic is. The M-Audio site sends you to the inMusic site to create an account then sends you back to M-Audio to log-in, which you can't do as it's stuck on the log-in screen no matter how many times you try to log into M-Audio. I finally went back to the inMusic site and could log-in to register my Oxygen Pro 49. Downloaded the software and installed everything. Could not get the included AIR products activation codes. There is no calling into inMusic only online chat. I explained to the tech what was happening and was told that I needed to downloaded the inMusic software to activate the AIR products. Long story short... While this looks good and feels ok the customer service side of things is just not there. I have a controller that sort of works at this point, no activation codes for included software and many hours of frustration. Packing the controller up in the morning and sending it back. Time for some more research.
