Love this thing!

By Kevin Mann from FL on June 1, 2023 Music Background: Grumpy old guitarist/songwriter

I've had the Mini MK III for a few weeks, and while I've had some issues setting it up in Studio One (SweetCare and YouTube have all the answers), it is a great little tool.
The pads and keys have an excellent tactile feel, and are satisfyingly responsive to dynamics. And it was great to discover that after switching from piano to guitar 50 years ago, I can still somewhat tickle the keys and get some good sounds out of the keyboard with the included plugins and the PreSonus ones in my DAW.
I'm amazed at the quality and versatility at this price point, and of course Sweetwater rocks!

I recently got the Akai Professional MPK Mini MK III Limited Edition White 25-key Keyboard Controller and I must say, I'm having a blast! It's super easy to set up and the ultra-compact design makes it perfect for creating on the go. The USB MIDI Keyboard allows you to get creative with lots of pads and performance controllers to choose from. Chromebook Certified

By JB Scott from A-Town on July 20, 2021 Music Background: Music Production/Multi-Instrumentalist

This Controller works flawlessly with Chromebook. It also works excellent with FL Mobile Studio, Roland Zenbeats & Walkband. I have no doubt it will work with any Chromebook/Android App as long as they have MIDI Controller options. Hopefully this information helps anyone who is curious about Chromebook compatibility.

Nice

I don't use it as much as I thought I would but it's nice for what it does.

Love it

My MPK Mini MK111 Limited Edition is better than my large controller. It has so many functions packed in this space-saving tool. I love how they made this one. Go Akai, Thanks, Sweetwater.

Akai

I absolutely love this thing! I've got a samsung 10inch tablet and full version of frooty loops. You get yourself a type c converter to USB. Or iphone to usb. You can do so much! Connect to iphone or Android. It's a tiny keyboard. There is so much potential that comes from this keyboard. It comes with a free d.a.w. I havnt tried it cause it's pc based. It's midi you can basically control a single violin or a choir of violins. Or stringed instruments. You can play piano of course or play drums. Or bass. You can control a quire of singers. Endless possibilities!

Rather Versatile

By niko hill from Pennsylvania on May 21, 2021

It's taking some time to learn all the features and such, but from what I've experienced, I think it's certainly getting easier as time moves along! I was a bit unsure of everything at first, given I didn't have any prior knowledge, but there are enough videos on YouTube to learn from. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking into making music of their own. There is a bit of a sensitivity issue I've noticed from Akai products, where if you hit a drum pad at a higher intensity, it'll set off a different one you never touched. I saw it first on my friend's drum pad (the one who introduced me to Akai products), and noticed it happening on mine. It doesn't happen often, and when it does, it isn't as though we can't make the minor adjustment in the editor, but I still thought it was something to acknowledge. Other than that, it excels in everything else it sets out to do, and I would absolutely get it again if I had to go back and choose again. Customer service the entire way through, and the hospitality of those behind Sweetwater are another great treat to an already great buy! Thanks again ^^

Handy Dandy Keyboard

By Raymond on April 6, 2023 Music Background: Beatboxer, Violist, Beginner Producer, the Disappointment Child in a family of Orchestra players

A couple of years ago, I saw that my friend had one of these: I thought the concept of portable keys with pads that can be used for drums really cool. The tool is really handy for my workflow and I don't have to drag my laptop to my keyboard when I wanna just pump an idea out.

I do have a couple of gripes about the item that I've come across. For full functionality, one has to download a program in order to adjust the knobs and the pads. (I guess this can be seen as a Pro and a Con as it allows customization, but by default, the knobs don't do much). The second thing is the velocity sensitivity: When the "Full Level" function isn't turned on, I have to hit the pads hard to get a decent sound (which is obviously the intended usage), but when I'm attempting to create a beat using the pads it's kind of annoying to either get full volume or a little. Either way, I find myself manually adjusting the volume later. The velocity sensitivity on the keys is also a bit cumbersome when I'm using plug-ins within my DAW, I usually have to ramp up the volume on the track to get the dynamics I'd like to have.

Otherwise, the controller is very nice. The keys have a nice feel and don't feel cheap, the quality of the pads and their sturdiness is *chef's kiss*, the arpeggiator is fun to play with, and the buttons are satisfying to press. The hardware on the product is that good-good ohhh yeah quality, the software can/should be altered to one's liking. All in all, it's a good piece of equipment. I'm glad I bought it as it accomplishes what it was made to do and that's to become the vessel in which I channel my musical ideas. >:)

Excellent

As someone who is just starting the world of keyboard/MIDI controllers, this has been a great way to start. I was skeptical at first with all the software and plug-ins needed to be installed, but once they were, it's an endless world of fun and creativity. I look forward to getting more AKAI products in the future! If you are a novice at keys, then i suggest this for you!
