Best Little Midi Controller
I purchased this midi controller to handle all of my mobile production. They say Big things come in small packages, well this little guy does not disappoint. If you have really large hands I would tell you to get something full size, but for me it's perfect. It allows me to enter notes with ease, it has fully mappable knobs for controlling many different parameters of your DAW and like all of its big Akai brothers, it has really responsive drum pads that make triggering samples and finger drumming a breeze. Although it is small, it is well built, as all Akai products are, and is very cool to look at. This grey one is so sweet. It matches my computer. This little baby comes in some very nice special edition colors. If that wasn't enough, you also receive Akai's new DAW MPC BEATS, along with an incredible music starter pack and 3 really quality sounding virtual instruments.I could go on and on but I think you can tell I really like this controller. Now what just put me over the top was my sales engineer Sunni. She is a top shelf music maker herself so her knowledge is incredible and she is one of the coolest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Sweetwater shipped it right away and it arrived in 2 business days. Finally the last awesome gesture from Sweetwater was they included a few candy sweets in my order. I thought that was a nice customer service and branding touch. Great product. Great service. Great company!
little overwhelming, but overall great product
color is nice, pads are fairly responsive, little bit of double hit pickup sometimes which may be more me. Works with addictive drums 2, i use it in reaper. I love the programs it comes with. Hybrid, Velvet. MPC is a bit complicated still for me but watching you tube vids helps learn how to do things. Price is great. Keys aren't as great which i remember seeing in the reviews, pads are better. So other midi controllers might be better for the keys. But its good enough to overdub and layer lines. Very happy with it overall, good product.
