I remember ordering this back in July and one of my friends were very happy that I got myself a controller. Also black is my favorite color!
I give this a 10 out of 10!

Nice upgrade from MkII, looks awesome.

If you've used a previous generation MPK Mini, the LED display and endless encoders are a huge upgrade. Keybed and joystick are the same. It's a solid controller with a small footprint, and all black with red lights looks killer in person.

Perfect for smaller workstations. Keys feel good, no rubbing and just the right amount of resistance. Took maybe 10 seconds to setup and use in my DAW.

Works great

By Joe on August 13, 2021 Music Background: A bunch, I’m old.

Works great for my setup. Haven't had any issues with the unit. If I had a complaint it would be the smallish keys but I knew they were small when I bought it and I didn't take into consideration my large hands. That's on me. Otherwise it's great.

My wife says it's cute

Don't let its toy-ish exterior fool you, it's a powerful tool and at this price point it does everything I need it to do. You have jump through some hoops to get set up, but after that the sky is the limit.

This place rocks!!

I have been looking for one of these at a decent price for awhile now and finally stumbled upon this website and found one for like 60 bucks cheaper than usual. Also the customer service is excellent I got a call, multiple email updates and when you get your package it comes with sweets(a couple pieces of candy). Its really nice to have a good experience during these tuff times. I dont like to name drop but guitar center, the offical peavey website and many other music websites that I have used dont have as good of customer service as this one. Order with sweetwater everytime and you'll be satisfied.

Akai For The Win

By Eric on September 6, 2020

Been looking for a replacement KB for better portability and to free up some valuable desktop real estate. I looked at the II countless times but never pulled the trigger. Compared to my (more expensive) KB I was always worried that the construction and keys would feel like a toy compared to what I was used to. I can't speak on prior models, but I can say this is exactly what I was looking for.

First off, this thing is sick, and had to get the all black edition. I will say that it catches every fingerprint and spec of dust, with stuff not even visible to the naked eye, (see pics) but I could care less. If that's a concern opt for another edition.

It doesn't feel like a toy, has a nice weight to it, a quality touch of trim on the sides, the keys and knobs satisfy, drum pads are comparable to my current KB, and an LCD.

It worked on my Mac right out the box, as expected for the platform, no downloads, etc. I simply pressed and held the Prog Select button, and touched each drum pad until the LCD said Logic Pro. Was glad to see FL Studio had a preset too, that was dope.

Can't speak on the included software, I'm good in that dept, but it's a nice inclusion. All in all, this is def a replacement for my current MIDI controller. THANKS TO ZACK BAUMAN, hooked it up again! When I called to pre-order he already knew all about the product, had me squared in minutes, and once it was in stock it processed and I received it quick. Zack's customer service was on point as always, can't recommend this dude enough. Can't beat Sweetwater.

Perfect for transportable Melodic Production

By Elijah Siegler from Branson, MO on March 18, 2023

This Midi controller feels great, looks great, and is simple and compact. This tool is perfect for beat production and melodic composition. Really solid knobs & controls, I don't have any complaints. It's great for what it was created for.

Really nice small interface

By Chris Reed from Morgantown, WV on January 7, 2021

I got this thing because I have limited desk space, and it's perfect. Doesn't take up much room and works great.

I'm using it with Ableton mostly, and have been messing with the MPC Beat software it comes with.

The keys and pads feel substantial enough. The plastic casing feels a little cheap, and I probably wouldn't use it in a performance setting.

One thing to not, wash your hands before using it. The pads pick up dust and dirt like a magnet.
