WOW!

This little guy is just simply amazing. Killer sound from a head that is so small it is easy to forget where you put it (trust me, find a bag to keep it in always). Weighs around a pound or so. EQ works well. Has only a 1/4" speaker jack, which is fine but would be nice to have speakon- not a deal killer by any stretch tho. XLR DI out is great. I pair it with the Trace Elliot 1x10 Elf cab and am very happy. Smaller shows I use it without running into the PA and it does quite well.

Tiny but awesome!!!!

I originally bought this amp as a backup to my Fender Rumble 500 combo and to use in my one bedroom apartment. I paired this with the TE elf 2x8 cab and WOW. I took it to band practice and it blew the rumble away. The sound is warm and balanced and really cuts through. I sold the rumble to buy an additional 2x8 cab so I could use the full 200 if needed. We played a gig over the weekend (loud rock coverband) and the ELF held its own. Never had to turn the volume past 11 o clock. If you want a small amp that can keep up I'd highly recommend the TE Elf.

Not just a back up

So I bought this amp as a backup since I can just through it in my gig bag. Well, it quickly became my main amp. Since Peavey makes these now, it must Peavey watts since it is seem much louder than it rated 200 watts. I often get told to turn down in practice and on stage. I regularly play a medium size venue, too. Not only do I have plenty of power but the tone is awesome. I’ve played a lot of amps but never a Trace Elliot. I play punk and heavy blues rock in two loud bands, even competing with a half stack. He’s the one that often asks me to turn down. It is though a Fender 610 with lots of mids so I’m sure that helps with having enough volume, rarely going past noon. I did just order a Transit B pedal for Drive, as it’s a bit lacking there, and the compressor so I can hopefully push the amp a bit less. The only thing that could be better is larger version but I’m VERY happy with this amp. Jimmy Hart has been an awesome sell rep, too!

First video is with FOH support at a medium size venue but mostly hearing amp. Second video is no PA support smallish venue.
Music background: Mostly bass, punk and heavy blues rock, gigging and recording.

Trace Elliot ELF

I purchased this amp with two 2x8 Trace cabinets. I gig with two classic rock bands, one has three electric guitarists and the other has one electric guitar; both bands use acoustic drums. Both easily exceed 90db. I use one speaker cabinet indoor and two cabinets for outdoor gigs. I have no issues hearing myself as long as you stack the cabinets vertically and on a 1' stool. I make two trips from my car: One with both cabinets in each hand with the head (in its supplied carry bag) and speaker (attached with velcro straps) to the cabinet's handle. The collapsible stool is attached the same way to the other cabinet. The second trip is the guitar and stand.

The amp has a deep, rich sound. The guitar is a Gibson Thunderbird, so I cut the bass and boost the treble with mids at 1 o'clock.

The only thing I would point out is you have to order a speaker cable; it DOES NOT come with one.

I buy exclusively from Sweetwater. They have great customer support and don't screw around getting things right. Thanks, Loui.

Nice!

Lightweight. While its selling point is it's size, it's also a great sounding preamp too. In fact, the direct input is phenomenal. Need a pedal board-mounted preamp/DI for an ampless scenario? All set. Need a preamp for direct studio recording sessions? It's incredible. It can even be the power house for many other situations both live and in the studio.

Don't let the bass big rig tube tone snobs fool you. This Elf is the real deal. Small, compact yet loud enough, with plenty of low end power to satisfy. Highly recommended.
