Amazing Mic

I needed a mic that could provide the clarity I needed for both vocals and acoustic guitars on a CD project. I watched the demo of Mr. Pittman singing and playing into the DT-1. I was impressed with the quality I heard and the price attached to it, so I bought one and used it. Let me tell you - that mic delivered! I just bought a second so that I can have a pair of these on hand. I see a long, fruitful working relationship with my now favorite mics. Excellent job, Aspen.

Surprising

I was looking for a hypercardiod dynamic mic, initially, for recording while sitting at my computer. I needed something with lots of rejection because my office is certainly not a studio and the electronics can be quite noisy. I saw this, worried because it's a condenser, but figured it was worth the gamble. After using it for a while, I can say this is winner and I should have bought two, just because.

I find it warm and articulate, without any brittleness. Rejection is fantastic, and the lower sensitivity (compared to other condensers) is great for my usage. The screw-on top is a surprisingly good windscreen and colors the sound only a little. This would be a great mic for podcasters and VO artists in less-than-studio spaces. I'm very happy with this mic. I find myself grabbing it for things beyond my original application too. It sounds good just about everywhere.

Great mic for a great price

I've been using a Shure Beta 58 for vocals live for years, the DT1 is a better mic. The clarity, hi output and off axis rejection makes it superior to anything in the price class, especially since it's a true condenser mic. What really blew me away though, is when I took the windscreen off and used it for acoustic guitar, overheads, and percussion in the studio. Wow! It sounds great on most anything. It has a slight high end bump that just adds a bit of "air" without being strident. This mic is excellent, especially because of the low price.

Convertible?

Bought what I believe to be the fore runner of the DT1....... Called the GT Convertible. Al the specs are the same.... And I am going to buy a DT1........ A great mic. So happy to see it become available again. Need a versatile mic, buy this. Great in all applications. Thank you Chris Lewis for turning me on to this great mic 10 years ago.........I will be calling soon to get my DT 1 to match the GT Convertible you sold me 10 years ago.

after a few live shows

so I don't use me Shure Beta 58 for live shows anymore since I got these....This mic is pretty awesome for the price! I now own three of em!!! I haven't experienced any handling noise like the other reviewer, but I leave my mics on mics stands since I play guitar and sing live. These things resist feedback really well. the fit and finish make it seem like it will last a long time. I'm very happy with my purchase of 3 of these mics. My voice finally cuts through the noise! and its sounds warm and clear and airy!!!!!! definitely worth the $100!!
Music background: 14 yrs of live shows. recording
