It's the 21st Century Telecaster from the Custom Shop!
Not everyone wants or needs a Tele that looks and feels like it was made in the 1960s. This Custom Classic Tele has all the features players have come to love plus a few modern upgrades, like a premium ash body with a transparent "thin" nitrocellulose finish, a large "C" shape figured maple neck and fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, two single-coil Tele-style pickups with a four-position blade switch and chrome plated steel Tele bridge plate.

Custom Classic Telecaster at a Glance:
  • Premium ash body with 3-color sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish and three-ply parchment pickguard
  • One Custom Shop "Twisted" Tele single-coil (neck) and one Classic Tele single-coil (bridge)
  • Large, one-piece "C" shape figured maple neck and fingerboard with polished satin urethane finish

Ash Body with "Thin" Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish
This is a really great looking Telecaster thanks to the premium ash body in a rich color. To enhance the look and allow the ash body to more freely resonate, Fender uses a special "thin" nitrocellulose lacquer finish on this guitar. The perfect complement comes in the form of a three-ply parchment pickguard, plus the distinctive "Nocaster" chrome dome knobs and "top hat" switch tip.

The Trademark Tele Sound
The original Telecaster had lots of top end thanks to the hand wound single-coil pickups. Fender knows better than to mess with that trademark sound, so they fitted this baby with a Custom Shop "Twisted" Tele single-coil in the neck position and a Classic single-coil in the bridge position. You get all of the twang and high end sparkle the Tele has become famous for since it first appeared in 1951.

Fast Playing "C" Shape Maple Neck and Fingerboard
Leo Fender wasn't afraid to "think outside the box" when it came to guitar designs - after all, he was an engineer, not a guitar player. In the 1950s and well into the 1970s, the blond natural maple neck became almost synonymous with Fender guitars. The Custom Classic Tele carries on that tradition with a large "C" shape figured maple neck and fingerboard with the modern polished satin urethane finish.

Fender Custom Classic Telecaster Features:

  • Body: Premium Ash

Fender Guitars
You could easily make the case that Fender electric guitars were responsible - at least in great part - for the birth of modern rock 'n' roll. Originally designed to be easier to build, and thus more affordable, Leo Fender's masterpieces, which include classics like the Stratocaster (is there a more distinctive guitar shape in the world?), the Telecaster and the original Precision Bass, were at the core of a musical revolution that spawned everything from surf to country to punk!

In the 1960s, when Fender guitars first hit bandstands and stages all around the country, it was astonishing to see that trademark Fender maple neck and fingerboard. Though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards as standard or optional on its entire line of instruments, those first "blond" necks really shook things up. Others have picked up on the maple neck theme, but it's clearly yet another of Leo Fender's "firsts."

Today, no other manufacturer can match Fender for the sheer number of options available throughout its entire line. While vintage Fenders can command astronomic prices, the company now has the widest range of quality instruments in the world, along with the highest profile players like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, all of whom are legendary.
